Time 4 Harmony is a place of reflection, encouragement, thought and inspiration on the goodness of God and His desire for health and wellness in our lives.

Now may the God of Peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

- 1 Thessalonians 5:23

Our Body

Our body is material and the home of our soul and spirit here on this earth. Doesn't it make sense that we should take care of it? The Bible tells us that God formed our body from the dust of the earth (Genesis 2:7) and it also teaches us that it is to the dust our body will return (Ecclesiastes 3:20). The Bible tells us that God has created our inmost being and knit us together in the womb (Psalm 139:13).

We are also told that as Christians, our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and He lives within us (1 Corinthians 6:19). How are you keeping house for the Holy Spirit? Are you keeping it clean and fit and worthy of His dwelling there? Are you practicing healthy habits, clean and righteous living?

Follow my blog and classes for ways to assist your body in health and wellness. We live in a fallen, sinful world and suffer the effects of sin, but there are ways we can pursue wellness to be the best we can be.

Our Soul

Our soul refers to our mind, emotions, will, and intellect. Our conscience, memory, imagination, reason, and affections are all parts of the soul. It is that part of us that thinks, feels, and makes choices. It is that part of us that chooses whether we will accept the free gift of redemption that God offers us. Will we accept or will we rebel?

It is the soul where Satan operates, playing on our affections and emotions to turn us away from God. If he can take control of our passions, our feelings, and our desires, and ultimately master them, then he is who we serve and we are enemies of God.

Are your affections set on Christ or do you love the things of this world more? Is your heart full of love, or full of hate, lust, and things that please our bodies rather than God? How can we keep our mind, emotion, will and intellect in a healthy place? God has promised to keep us in perfect peace if we trust Him and fix our thoughts on Him! (Isaiah 26:3) Let's talk more about how we can do this! Did you know that our thought life affects the way we live as well as our mental/emotional health which in turn impacts our physical and spiritual health?

Our Spirit

When God formed us from the dust of the ground, He did something more for us than He did for the animals. God breathed into us His breath (spirit) and we became living souls. It is through our spirit that we can commune with God through His Holy Spirit. Our spiritual faculties of faith, prayer, worship, reverence and hope reside in the soul. It is through our soul that the spirit understands the outside world.

When we were created, we had a perfect relationship with God. Our body and soul was in tune with our spirit and the Spirit of God. He walked with us and talked with us. He also gave us free will and Adam and Eve chose to disobey, ending that perfect relationship with Him. The punishment was eternal death, yet his Son, Jesus Christ came and paid that penalty for us that we might have eternal life.

Have you accepted His free gift? Are you in a right relationship with Him? Are you walking and talking to him each day? Would you like a closer relationship with Him? Maybe you have accepted His free gift but are not sure how to walk with Him. Follow me here as we study God's Word together and learn to walk in our relationship with Him!
